The stadium on boulevard Michelet has been hosting OM matches since 1937. For the 1998 World Cup, the stadium was completely renovated and its capacity increased from 42,000 to 60,000. The four stands bear the names of sportsmen and women (runner Jean Bouin, cyclist Gustave Ganay), a historic figure from the 1720 post office (virage Sud Chevalier Roze), and a charismatic supporter who died in 2000 (virage Nord Patrice De Peretti).

Since its completion in 1937, the Stade Vélodrome has been the official stadium ofOlympique de Marseille. With a capacity of 67,394 spectators, it is the second largest stadium in France after the Stade de France. Since signing a partnership agreement with Orange, the stadium has been known as Orange Vélodrome since 2016.
